About

2013 headshotI am a writer, speaker, and stay-at-home mom to two daughters, ages 7 and 9 years old. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 11 years. We live in Arkansas, where I enjoy reading, writing, speaking, Bible study, homeschooling, and spending time with friends and family.

I was involved with a program for young writers in my area for many years and am a teacher-consultant with the local site of the National Writing Project. I am a former public school teacher and spent a year as an artist-in-residence for the regional arts and humanities council.

I am also an advocate/case manager for my younger daughter, who has multiple special need.

I have had several articles and anecdotes published in print publications. I am a regular contributor at HEDUA and Special Happens, and I wrote for The Homeschool Village from January 2011 through December 2012. I won the Homeschool Blog Award for Best Special Needs Blogger and was in the Top 10 Homeschool Encourager Blogs at The Homeschool Post for 2012. I also co-hosted Mustard Seed Planting with Rebecca at Mom’s Mustard Seeds on Wednesdays for almost two years. For links to articles I’ve published on other sites, please see my online writing credits page.

I hosted a special needs meet-up at The 2:1 Conference in April 2012, and I am a member of iHomeschool Network.

If you’re interested in knowing even more about me, read this interview that Chris Goforth conducted and featured on his blog. He asked great questions and really got me to open up!
