We started our lessons this week after DH went back to work on Tuesday. It was hard to get started again after our Christmas break, but we managed to get everything in four days in a row.
We had some science fun—started learning about cells and made a model of one. (The girls ate it for a snack today. They didn’t want the organelles (raisins), and Roo refused to eat the gummy candy “brainery” (nucleus).
We also started an experiment that I hope will not turn out to be toxic. It involves milk, some of which stays in the fridge where it belongs, and some that will be sitting at room temperature—for a week! And so begins our study of bacteria.
At night, after everyone went to bed, I stayed up to do my Bible in 90 Days readings. I’m fifteen chapters into Exodus now, and I ran into some great advice for the New Year along the way.
Sometimes I start a new year with regrets, thinking about what I could have done differently last year that would have made this year start better. But that doesn’t do any good. We can’t change the past. We can only move forward. These two verses say it perfectly.
“Don’t look back . . .” Genesis 19:17 (NIV1984)
“. . . move on.” Exodus 14:15 (NIV1984)
How are you moving forward in 2012?

Ah, this post brought back memories of daughter’s mitochondria cake! Enjoying your blog.
Thanks so much! I just paid you a visit too. Have a great weekend.
I love those words!! Move on is what I needed to hear! I’m curious to hear how the science experiment turns out!
I’m glad those verses ministered to you too, Jessica! I’ll have to do a follow-up on the science experiment so you know how it turned out!
I wrote “Move on” at the top of that page in my Bible. I feel God calling me to press forward as well, and though we had a great Christmas, I’m glad to be onto and into the New Year! I’m planning to be more consistent on-line, and I enjoy your insights and encouragements, Jennifer! Hugs to you from CO!
Hugs back to you from AR! I’m struggling with some consistency online too, Sara! You’re not alone. Thanks for your encouragement.
