God Behind the Scenes

We had VBS every night last week, and then we went to Teach Them Diligently Convention in Dallas over the weekend. Now we’re getting ready to attend church camp. I am still working on my summer reading list, but the most wonderful thing I’ve read in the past couple of weeks came from an email someone sent me. I haven’t heard from this person in almost two decades, and I honestly never expected to hear from him again. When his name appeared in my inbox, I was almost scared to open it. The last communications I received from him were full of deception and betrayal, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to open that Pandora’s box all over again. This email was far from damaging. It was full of repentance, a request for forgiveness, and an acknowledgement of the pain and hurt he’d caused all those years ago.

I was shocked and so blessed. I had chosen long ago to forgive him and had finally reached the point where I really felt it. I have continued to pray for this person through the years as God brought him to mind, and I am so thankful that God has answered my prayers.

I’m going through some tough times right now, and this email really encouraged me. It let me know that God is always working behind the scenes, even when we don’t see Him at work or understand what He’s doing. I might never have seen the results of all those prayers, but this email gave me a glimpse into God’s ways. He’s there. He’s working. Sometimes it takes minutes or hours. Sometimes it takes days. Sometimes it takes almost two decades. But count on it. He’s always there, doing what He does best—drawing people to Himself and bringing healing and restoration where we’ll let Him.

In what ways have you seen God at work around or in you recently?
