Homeschool Mother’s Journal: Keeping to the Routine

Homeschool Mother's Journal -

In my life this week…

I’m still fighting bronchitis, but we have managed to get our lessons done and even attended a birthday party earlier this week!

We were supposed to have an orthodontic consultation done for Princess Roo, but that got rescheduled when I discovered she had thrush. She is taking medication and is much better in that respect!

In our homeschool this week…

We worked on skip counting by twos, expressions with a variable, phonics, and note-taking/writing paragraphs. With one in second grade and one in fourth grade, it’s a mixed bag around here!

We’re still finishing up Dinosaurs for Kids and Dutch Twins, and we have enjoyed every minute!

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

There’s a balance between taking sick days and keeping the routine going. Since I’ve been sick for a month, we’re keeping the routine going, with plenty of rest time built in for mom, less running errands, and fewer playdates. Those things can wait a bit until I’m feeling better.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We spent some time with my mom and grandmother mid-week and enjoyed a birthday party with some wonderful friends on Monday afternoon.

My favorite thing this week was…

Getting to chat with other moms at the birthday party.

My kiddos’ favorite thing this week was…

The birthday party. It was at Chuck E. Cheese. That’s hard to compete with, in a kid’s mind. 😉

Things I’m working on…

There are some BIG projects in the works! I’ll share as I’m able to. In the meantime, I covet your prayers. Deadlines are looming, and I’m feeling a little out of my league!

I’m getting excited about the Teach Them Diligently Convention in Nashville in May! I just found out there’s a special needs track. I hope you’ll join me there!

TTD Special Needs

I’m grateful for…

Some progress on the health front. I think I’m finally seeing some relief from the bronchitis!

I’m praying for…

Our nation. Several friends who are going through some really tough situations.

I rewarded my kids this week by…

Letting them watch more TV than usual while I tried to take it easy and recuperate.

Something I am ogling or have my eye on…

The Kindle Paperwhite. I have an older Kindle Keyboard. It still works (it’s slow!), but when its day comes, this is what I’m planning to replace it with.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share (silly, serious or both!)…

I love this T-shirt I saw at the mall when we were out running errands! The greatest is still LOVE.

I’m sorry that you are still battling with bronchitis but I am glad that you are starting to feel a bit better. Praying for you and I’d ask that you keep me in your prayers as well as I am still battling with what started out as a cold on Christmas Eve, developed into bronchitis/sinusitis by January and while I was feeling a bit better have now started up a cold again. I’m at my wits end. This time my husband is starting to feel sick and he was fortunate to miss the first round.

    • I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling too, Jennifer. I will definitely pray for you and your husband! The doctor told me they have seen a lot of persistent respiratory infections this year. :(
