Homeschool Mother’s Journal: September 21, 2012

In my life this week…

I’m fighting a milder form of whatever the girls had last week. As a result, my energy is lagging, but I’m doing okay. My elbow still has a knot on it, but it rarely hurts anymore. I’m still thankful it wasn’t broken!

In our homeschool this week…

We took a field trip! We attended Kids’ Day at the Fair (for schools and educational groups) at our local fairgrounds and had a great time. The girls had their pictures made with Ms. Moo. (It’s an annual tradition.) They also got to have their pictures made with Miss Rodeo Louisiana 2012. I sold that one to Princess Roo by telling her that Allison is a “rodeo princess.” She was all about talking to her after that!

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

When everyone isn’t feeling well, offer yourself some grace! It’s okay to take it easy and allow for naps. Flexibility is one of the wonderful things about homeschooling.

My favorite thing this week was…

Being part of the promotion blitz for Anita Mellott’s book School Is Where the Home Is. I am blessed to be part of supporting another homeschooling family in need. If you haven’t entered to win your own copy yet, do it now!

What’s working/not working for us…

What’s not working for us is being sick. I’m praying we’re all back to 100% very soon!

Things I’m working on…

Getting caught up (and staying that way) with my writing and other projects.

I’m reading…

Ongoing reading/study projects:

  • The Battlefield of the Mind Devotional by Joyce Meyer
  • The Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer
  • Power Thoughts: 12 Strategies to Win the Battle of the Mind by Joyce Meyer
  • Answers to Prayer from George Müller’s Narratives by George Müller and A. E. C. Brooks

I’m grateful for…

Friends who feel free to call or text after 10:00 p.m. if they really need me. I know I could count on them late at night too!

I’m praying for…

Our nation. There is so much at stake in the upcoming elections. We all need discernment and wisdom!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

I’m going to share some linky love this week. Don’t miss these!

  1. Mary says:

I’m praying for better health for all of your family, too. You’re right – we need to take it easy on ourselves when someone isn’t feeling well.

    You’ve had a busy week, haven’t you?

Thanks for linking with Collage Friday!

    • Thank you, Mary! We need those prayers.

Yes, the week has been busy—despite being under the weather!

Now that I’ve figured out how to create a collage, I will probably link up more often! 😉

  2. I love reading your heart and musings, Jennifer! So glad you’re on the mend. Praying God would breathe fresh energy and health through you and your kids. Thanks for including my post in your links! Can’t wait to check the others out. ((((Hugs))))

  3. Ms. Moo is super cute! Kiddos too! Moms don’t have much time for feeling under the weather, do they? I hope you’re feeling better for the upcoming week!

    • Thanks! Princess Roo was disappointed that Ms. Moo wasn’t wearing a bow this year. Oh, well!

No, moms don’t have time to be sick at all! I’m doing better and plan to rest up this weekend so I’ll be ready to tackle Monday when it gets here!
