Homeschool Mother’s Journal: Update on Princess Roo

In my life this week….

It was a busy week, which is one reason I’m so late getting my wrap-up post up! On Monday I took Princess Roo to the immunologist to have labs drawn and get some booster shots. Next month she’ll have more labs drawn to see what her antibody response was to the boosters. This will help us understand how her immune system is functioning and will enable us to make decisions about the immunoglobulin infusions for the fall and winter. (She’s had a great spring and summer, so we’re praying that she won’t need them!)

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We went to the zoo after Roo got finished at Children’s, and we were able to spend some time with our beloved penguins (our favorite exhibit) and caught a brief glimpse of the cheetah at the new exhibit. Unfortunately, the cheetah was smarter than we were and was in some tall grass under a shade tree, so I didn’t get any pictures this time. (It was HOT!)

We spent some time with my friend Cristi and her family on Monday. We really thought that was the last time we would see them for a while because they were leaving for Arizona the next day. Those plans changed when Cristi called to ask for the phone number for the dealership when her van broke down just outside our town. We spent the better part of two days with her family while they figured out the vehicle situation. I’m sorry they had to stop but am thankful for the extra time together!

My favorite thing this week was…

Getting to spend so much time with Cristi and her family before they move to Arizona was a blessing. I’m thankful for that time.

Things I’m working on…

I’m trying to get back into a routine with my writing and posting, but that hasn’t happened yet. We’re starting school tomorrow, so hopefully getting into a regular routine will help me with that.

I spent another Saturday cleaning out our school room and getting it ready for our school year. I can’t believe how long it took me, but I went through everything. Now that the school room is finished, it’s time to do the same thing with the rest of the house. It was a lot of work, but it feels great!

I’m reading…

New books:

  • School Is Where the Home Is by Anita Mellott

Ongoing reading projects:

  • The Battlefield of the Mind Devotional by Joyce Meyer
  • The Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer
  • Platform by Michael Hyatt
  • 7 Tools for Cultivating Your Child’s Potential by Zan Tyler (for the second time!)
  • Bible in 90 Days
  • Educating the WholeHearted Child by Clay Clarkson with Sally Clarkson
  • Power Thoughts: 12 Strategies to Win the Battle of the Mind by Joyce Meyer
I completed:
  • Waking Lazarus by T. L. Hines

I’m praying for…

I’m fervently praying for revival and breakthrough for our nation, my family, and many that we care about.

Questions/thoughts I have…

How long has it been since I cleaned out every shelf and drawer in our school room?!

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

It was so HOT that the penguins were all in the pool!
