As I write this, it’s cloudy. We have a slight chance of rain over the next few days, and I’m praying that we will get some this time. We’re desperate for it. I pray for rain, and I pray for God’s Spirit to rain down as well. I think we’re as spiritually dry and thirsty as the ground is, and I’m crying out to God for relief, both physically and spiritually.
As I finished reading the Old Testament, I came across some verses in Haggai that explained how I feel about the worldwide chaos: unemployment, famine, drought, wildfires, flooding, hurricanes, earthquakes, economic and financial issues, and other issues that make headlines daily.
“This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the LORD Almighty.”
Haggai 2:6-7 (NIV1984)
I’m feeling shaken. Are you? If your answer is yes, you might find the text of Joel Rosenberg’s September 11, 2011 sermon interesting. It’s called “Wake Up Call.”
