I haven’t posted a Roo update in a while, so I guess it’s time.
Roo is healthier than she has been in a long time. She has had a handful of close calls, but she hasn’t had a full-blown sinus infection in months. We are rejoicing in that. She is still on her low-dose daily antibiotic and will continue that until we see the ENT again in December.
Not long ago she had her IgG levels checked again, and they continue to rise. She has been above 1000 now for a while and recovered from a cold more quickly than any of us not long ago! It’s possible that she’ll get to trial off the infusions in the spring and have more testing done on her immune system.
Because she is doing so well physically, some other issues are becoming noticeable. I have seen them all along but wrote them off to her not feeling well, etc. Now we’re realizing that they’re part of who she is and how she operates. We’re doing some research and are praying for the ways to get her the evaluations and help she needs to work on these areas.
Roo still struggles with her school work, but she has made a lot of progress since last fall. She is getting better at decoding CVC words and is doing great in simple addition and subtraction. I’m pleased with how she’s doing and can’t wait to see where she is at the end of the year.
If you would, please lift Roo up in prayer as you read this. She’ll be having repeat allergy testing very soon. I don’t expect any surprises, but it makes for a long afternoon, and her sensory issues make this an uncomfortable and anxiety-producing procedure.
Roo will also see the GI at the end of the month. She is still experiencing some abdominal pain and discomfort, although that has improved. Roo is still struggling to gain weight and grow normally. Please pray that her medical team will have wisdom to know how best to address this issue.
Thanks for praying for us!
