The True Account of Adam and Eve by Ken Ham is more than a retelling of the Genesis account. It does summarize the Creation and discuss Adam and Eve’s life in the Garden, but it does much more than that. The True Account of Adam and Eve explains the serious impact of sin on all of humanity and on creation itself. It also outlines God’s perfect plan of redemption and reconciliation and explains the need for a perfect sacrifice and why Jesus was the only one who could meet that need.
What most impressed me was how the book outlines the generations from Adam to Noah and beyond, explaining that the Young Earth “theory” is fact and that all of those genealogies throughout the Bible show us how old the earth is. The book also explains how today’s population matches up with what one what expect from a young earth, if you figure the population from the Flood during Noah’s generation.
My older daughter is nine years old. She was impressed by the explanation of how perfect things were in the Garden and that even the animals didn’t eat each other until sin entered the world.
My younger daughter is seven years old. Her favorite part of the history of the Garden and the Fall is about the angel that was placed at the entrance to the Garden to keep Adam and Eve from returning. Hearing it again in The True Account of Adam and Eve was no exception.
If you’re looking for the typical Bible “storybook,” then The True Account of Adam and Eve isn’t what you want. If your family, like mine, enjoys digging deep into the Word and seeing the perfection of God’s plan and how the science and history line up perfectly with the Bible, then you must get a copy of this book! The concepts in The True Account aren’t watered down for children, although they are explained well. This book lends itself to ongoing discussion with your children, which is exactly what I like about it!
