Unstoppable with Kirk Cameron

After recently purchasing and watching Kirk Cameron’s Monumental, and because I have dealt with my share of tragedy and suffering, I was excited to receive Unstoppable, in which Kirk tackles the question “Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?” I respect Kirk and believed he would tackle it in a God-honoring manner. I wanted to see how he handled this tough question.

The DVD is Dove approved for ages 12 and up. My older daughter, who is a very mature 10.5, and I watched the DVD together. (After seeing it, I believe that I was right to wait a few years before allowing my 8.5-year-old watch it.) We both feel like it was very well done, although it was different than I anticipated.

I guess I thought Kirk would offer some “answers” of a sort, trying to comfort and encourage through the platitudes people often offer when someone is suffering. Unfortunately, they’re normally not any more helpful than the words Job’s friends spoke to him in his suffering.

Instead of saying the same things we always hear about how God works everything for good and that God has a plan and a purpose in and through our suffering (He does, but that’s not always immediately helpful to hear), Kirk tells us about a loss that set him on this journey and then shows us his answer to where God is in the midst of tragedy and suffering.

Kirk’s answer is biblical truth, and the presentation is highly visual and is presented in a way that will stay with me for a long time.

This DVD is for anyone (ages 12+) who has ever grappled with hard questions about God’s presence in the midst of our heartache, pain, and agony. I recommend it and will watch it again.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would pray for me to hear God’s voice. I am desperate to know when it is Him speaking to me. I’m also reading “Bold Love” and working to forgive. I love how God comes at you from so many different angles…our pastor has been speaking on forgiveness :)
    Thank you.

  6. Rebecca H. says:

Please pray for the salvation/return to God of my boys father. He claimed to be a Christian before we married. Then, long story short, a number of moves & some increasing & ongoing life/health situations…got us out of going to church. Then, as life situations (& health) got harder & it had been so long since we had been to church…it was just easier to not go. We had never had devotions/prayers as a couple (at least not on a regular basis,if any)…& did not start then. God got pushed in the corner/ back seat, whatever you want to say. His place in our life shrank. As my husband was “out in the world” more than I, a SAHM…trying to homeschool two sons (high risk pregnancy with youngest in 2003-4 had been some of the “life/health situations”) he started listening to the world more. And,without God’s influence,he made bad decisions. He decided marriage was not important…resulting in a divorce (against my wishes/desires) in 2012. He still sees our sons most days…but does not go (or even want to go) to church, & does not show any desire to live for God. He has no problem seeking entertainment (tv,movies, music,& books) that are, to varying levels, against what God’s word says is right & good. That much garbage in one’s diet cannot be good. He has read the Bible, I believe he knows down deep that he is not doing/ living how God would have him. Please pray that God will soften his heart & remove his blinders & take away his excuses. Pray that my boys will have a Daddy that knows God & loves Him with his whole heart. Please pray for me also as I deal with their behavioral issues related in part to Aspergers & other issues; my chronic pain issues & my broken heart over my broken & hurting family…that I will be the person He wants me to be. Sorry so long, thank you for your prayers.

  7. Cassie says:

My niece (22) lives with us, and just found out she is pregnant 2 weeks ago. When she told the father, he stopped speaking to her. They are talking again some, but please pray that this situation will work out however is best for the baby and my niece. Thank you :)

  8. Emmalee says:

I have a treatment tomorrow and our middle daughter has a kidney test on Friday.

  9. Lena says:

Pray that God removes any barriers and gives us a clear picture of what to do for school for D. I know what my heart tells me, but I also know my heart could just be exhaustion talking…or it could be real message from God.
