VeggieTales: The Little House That Stood {Review}

My family’s experience with VeggieTales began when my older daughter was only three months old. As an infant, she cried a lot, leaving me little time to do anything (including sleep). VeggieTales fascinated her, and I let her watch it briefly sometimes so I could do important things around the house (like take a shower). My husband and I found that we enjoyed watching VeggieTales too because of the biblical values and principles.

As she grew older and we added another daughter to our family, I appreciated VeggieTales even more. Watching each show has given us the opportunity for important discussions about character traits and life lessons. This time is no different.

VeggieTales: The Little House That Stood

Like the shows that came before it, VeggieTales’ new release The Little House That Stood does not disappoint. The girls were super excited to get our copy, and they watched it immediately. Since that first viewing, we have watched it again, as a family.

The Little House That Stood VeggieTales

The title episode is a retelling of the parable of the wise and foolish builders from the New Testament. It reinforces how critical it is to build with a good foundation based on the “Master Builder’s Handbook” and lends itself well to reinforcing the importance of basing your decisions on God’s Word.

The Silly Song brings laughter and silliness to the DVD, which also includes a retelling of “The Good Egg of Gooseville.” In this Humpty Dumpty retelling, the Veggies learn the importance of serving others and not being selfish and self-focused. It’s another opportunity to have a family discussion about living lives of service.

My family really enjoyed this DVD. We laughed together and enjoyed the light-hearted, kid-friendly presentation that allowed us to discuss some critical issues with our girls. The Little House That Stood will be a cherished part of our VeggieTales collection that we’ll enjoy watching again and again.
