I am a writer, speaker, and work-at-home mom to two daughters, ages 10 and 12 years old. We live in Arkansas, where I enjoy reading, writing, speaking, Bible study, homeschooling, crocheting, drinking iced tea, writing in blue ink, and spending time with friends and family.
I was involved with a program for young writers in my area for many years and am a teacher-consultant with the local site of the National Writing Project. I am a former public school teacher and spent a year as an artist-in-residence for the regional arts and humanities council.
I am also an advocate/case manager for my younger daughter, who has multiple special needs.
I co-authored Homeschooling: What to Do When You Want to Quit, The Big Book of Homeschool Ideas, iBlog, iBlog Pro, Well Planned Homeschool, Focus on Special Needs, and 31 Days of Encouragement for the Homeschool Mom (which you can receive free by subscribing to my newsletter using the box below!). I also contributed a chapter to Prayers Spoken, Lives Changed by Jennifer O. White. I have had several articles and anecdotes published in print publications.
I am a regular contributor at HEDUA, Special Happens, Comfort in the Midst of Chaos, Raising Sticky Hands to Heaven, and Your One Tree, and I wrote for The Homeschool Village from January 2011 through December 2012. I won the Homeschool Blog Award for Best Special Needs Blogger and was in the Top 10 Homeschool Encourager Blogs at The Homeschool Post for 2012. I also co-hosted Mustard Seed Planting with Rebecca at Mom’s Mustard Seeds on Wednesdays for almost two years.
I hosted a special needs meet-up at The 2:1 Conference in April 2012, spoke in the special needs track at Teach Them Diligently Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, in May 2013, and I am a member of iHomeschool Network.
In 2014, I spoke in the special needs tracks of iHomeschool Studio in February, the Greater St. Louis Area Home Educators Expo in March, and Teach Them Diligently Convention in Dallas, Texas, in June. (If you would like to discuss a speaking engagement with me, please contact me at jennifer (at) jenniferajanes (dot) com.)
