Mustard Seed Planting: No One Who Does Good

Today I had an interesting exchange with a dear friend of mine. It went like this:

I’m not sure exactly how the name error occurred. (Auto-correct can be really terrible. I disabled it on my phone.) I did send back a reply saying that I was glad to finally know my alter-ego’s name. As I went about my preparations for the day, I continued to chuckle about “Joelene” and was just silly enough to wonder which was the “good” me—Jennifer or Joelene?

And then I remembered these verses:

10 As it is written:

“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11 there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”

Romans 3:10-12 (NIV, emphasis added)

Joelene, Jennifer, it doesn’t matter what the name is. If you see any good in me, it’s because of Jesus. Without the Baby in the manger, I’m nothing.

What are you thinking about this Christmas season? Please share the verses God is using to transform your life with Rebecca and me by linking up or leaving a comment here or at Mom’s Mustard Seeds.

  1. Joelene, Jennifer, you’re right, it doesn’t matter. God knows your heart and He has given it to many people through friendships and family. Yes, there is a lot of good in you. I’m blessed you are my friend.

  2. Jason says:

    “If you see any good in me, it’s because of Jesus.”

    Every day I just give thanks for Jesus, because without Him, my life would be so hopeless! Thank you for sharing these thoughts.

  4. LOVE you…and you’re ummm…Jennifer, right? I get it! I so get it! and…there is no good in me except for that of Christ…LOVE YOU!
